There’s something undeniably magical about a garden wedding. The lush greenery, the smell of fresh flowers, and the golden light filtering through the trees create the perfect backdrop for two people to tie the knot. Recently, we had the joy of capturing a truly breathtaking celebration at The Estate on the Halifax, where nature and romance intertwined beautifully. From the couple’s heartfelt vows beneath a canopy of flowers to the golden-hour portraits that felt straight out of a fairytale, every moment was pure perfection, just like this sweet couple, Krista & Jeremy. We had the pleasure of doing Krista & Jeremy’s engagement session and got to know them and their love story. These two truly have something special and when you're with them, you can truly feel the love that they feel for each other. It’s not often that you find two people who truly complete each other, but with these two I can confidently say that there are no versions of them without the other.
Driving to the venue, we realize that we are about to have a perfect day of weather to capture a wedding, a photographers dream. The day was already set up to be the most perfect day before we even arrived! Upon our arrival, we went to say hi to the girls and capture all of the details. The bridal suite at this venue is called “Agatha’s house” and its the most beautiful bridal suite of them all. The house is old, dark, and super historic, creating the perfect dramatic backdrop for the bride and her details. First, I scope the house out and try to find the most perfect spot to hang the dress. On this particular day I chose to hang it on this balcony in the house that overlooks the grand piano and first story of the house. This has to be one of my favorite dress shots. Every angle I shot this dress was just chefs kiss. After capturing all of the details, I stole Krista from the ruckus of getting ready and took her to a quiet spot to ask her a few questions about Jeremy and how she was feeling. They way she spoke of him and how she felt on her special day had the both of us in tears. Our goal is to document the day and draw authentic emotion so that when the couple watches the video and looks over their photo gallery, they are able to feel the feelings all over again. Krista continued to get ready and I moved on to the gentlemen.
In typical guy fashion, these groomsmen were ready to have some fun! The grooms suite is so incredibly unique at this venue. It is a train car with a bar, cool seats, and fancy tables and decor! All of Jeremy’s best guys had cool sunglasses so I set them up outside of the train car and let them each have their moment to shine as they walked down the stairs and out of the train car in cool fashion! I always like doing something fun with the guys, it always boosts the morale for the entire day and gets everyone hyped up for the ceremony and after party! After all the fun was had, I stole Jeremy to ask him some questions as well. To my surprise, he too was emotional about his soon to be bride and couldn’t wait to see her walk down the aisle.
At this point in the day, it was almost ceremony time. It was time for Krista to make her final touches to hair and makeup, and get into her dress. The nerves and tension began to set in, but Krista’s bridesmaids kept her calm and assured her that everything was going smoothly. Krista got into her dress and made her way down the grand staircase in Agatha’s house where her bridesmaids were standing. It was the first time they were seeing her in her dress. As they all met at the bottom of the staircase, many tears and hugs were shared amongst the ladies. It’s almost go time. We left the girls to go set up for the ceremony.
The Estate on the Halifax is such a cool venue because of the variety of locations to hold your ceremony. Krista & Jeremy chose my favorite place, the oak tree. There is just something about being outside in the fresh air surrounded by your friends and family while the light is peaking through the trees that screams love in the best way possible. We set up for the ceremony as we watched their friends and family arrive one by one, ready to see this beautiful couple get married. Krista made her way down the aisle to Jeremy, eyeing him the whole way with tears in her eyes. The couple shared the most beautifully written vows I had ever heard and then shared the sweetest kiss under the beautiful oak tree. The couple then escaped to Agathas house to share some chicken and waffle skewers before we took the most beautiful portraits that they will cherish forever. We made our way around the property and took photos at the most beautiful spots throughout the garden. They laughed, they kissed, they told each other sweet nothings as they embraced their couples portraits. These two were ready to PARTY!
They made their way down the grand staircase in the reception area where they enjoyed a meal with their closest friends and family. Then, naturally, all of their closest friends gravitated towards the dance floor and literally danced the night away with each other. The vibes were immaculate and so much fun was had. Even we were dancing, because how could you not! To end this perfect day, the couple enjoyed a last dance with just them two in the building. We love when couples do this because you can just feel and know that they just had the best day of their lives. The emotion during private last dances is something so special that you just can’t recreate. They then made their way through a sparkler tunnel outside where Jeremy dipped and kissed Krista under the sparklers surrounded by their closest family and friends. A perfect ending to the most perfect day ever.
