Tucked away in a picturesque countryside setting, The Barn at Hidden Oaks provides the perfect blend of rustic charm and timeless elegance for couples looking to say "I do." With its sprawling oak trees, warm wooden beams, and breathtaking views, this venue sets the stage for a wedding that feels both intimate and grand. Today I’m taking you inside a truly magical celebration at The Barn at Hidden Oaks. From heartfelt vows beneath the towering oaks to a lively reception filled with love and laughter, Lindsey & Jacob’s wedding was nothing short of enchanting.
We arrived to the venue around mid day/lunch time and went and said hello to Lindsey. Her and her best gals were already getting their hair and make up done, eating good snacks while listening to music, and loving on Lindsey’s new niece, who would later be rolled down the aisle in a wagon as the flower girl. This scene alone made me so excited to get the day started! Lindsey had her details set aside neatly in a bag, so we took those and headed outside for some detail shots under the oak trees. We hung her dress and watched as it swayed back and forth over the beautiful greenery at The Barn at Hidden Oaks. We headed inside and then headed over to where the boys were getting ready.
This particular venue is super convenient because the bridal suite and the groom suite are literally steps away from each other, a photographer's dream! The groom suite has a foosball table so I told the boys to play a game. We watched (and snapped away!) as the boys whipped the foosball back and forth. They formed teams and hyped each other up on who could win the foosball game. Getting them to play really set their tone of the day and definitely made them super excited to get Jacob married! After foosball, we went outside to take some photos of the best friends with each other. The Barn at Hidden Oaks has a big tractor so of course, in typical boy fashion, they wanted to GET ON the tractor and take photos. You know what they say…boys will be boys! After this we sent them back inside and told them to chill out before the ceremony, which was happening in just an hour and a half!
We made our way back to the bridal suite to get Lindsey into her dress. Her hair laid perfectly and her make up was pristine. She looked like a bride and it was finally almost time for her to become one. Her sweet mom helped her into her dress and the two of them shared the sweetest moment. Her baby girl was getting married and she was so incredibly proud of her and the woman she has become. We took Lindsey outside of the bridal suite (with Jacob hidden away of course) and took some stunning shots of the bride at the picturesque venue. She had such a beautiful veil that I could’ve taken photos of for hours. We snapped a few (few hundred) of this beautiful bride and her tribe of sisters and then made our way to the ceremony site where Lindsey would walk down the aisle to her high school sweetheart. Yes, high school sweet heart!!!! I feel like you don’t hear that much anymore but man is it so adorable when you do.
The two shared meaningful vows in front of their closest friends and family and officially became Mr. & Mrs. Strong. Their last name is ironic because the two of them are super involved with the gym, so its only perfect that they became “The Strongs”! After they shared their first kiss and were announced as a couple for the first time, they walked back down the aisle and had the best dip kiss I have ever seen, EVER! They definitely rehearsed it but they absolutely crushed it!! Immediately from here we took family photos under their beautiful arch at the end of the aisle. In our final meeting before the wedding, Lindsey & Jacob requested that they enjoy some of their cocktail hour after couples portraits and before the reception. I love love love this idea and just told Lindsey that family photos would just have to be organized and prompt, she totally understood the assignment and made sure everyone was ready to go directly after the ceremony! We stole the couple for a quick 25 minutes to take couples portraits and then they were off to their cocktail hour! Watching them mingle with all of their peoples was actually so beautiful and I wish more couples would do this!
These two broke it DOWNNNNN during their reception, and all of their friends knew how to break it down too! There were bubbles, glow sticks, sunglasses, and even crowd surfing! Both Lindsey & Jacob were both in the air at one point floating over their crowd! It was epic to say the least and I wish we could go back and relive this reception because we had so much fun as photographers as well! After not leaving the dance floor for the entirety of their reception, it was finally time for their exit as a married couple. They exited through a tunnel of their guests onto a red carpet that led to the coolest old vintage car. And away they went as The Strongs.
